There's nothing wrong with your speaker. HyperCard can't read sounds from a floppy disk fast enough to have them play smoothly. They get broken up because HyperCard uses the same chip to read sounds and display screen information. Since a hard disk accesses info faster, this is never a problem on a hard disk.
