If sounds that you hear in this stack (or any stack) sound "scratchy", don't worry. There's nothing wrong with your speaker.

HyperCard can't read sounds from a floppy disk fast enough to have them play smoothly. They get broken up because HyperCard uses the  same chip to read sounds and display screen information.

Since a hard disk accesses info faster, this is never a problem on a hard disk. But if you play the sound a second time, it usually sounds OK since it has already been loaded into  RAM.

ResCopy and SoundRes Demo are 2 good utilities to move sounds around. Both are available in the LI Mac PD Library.
